Aula RL01, Edifici Ramon Llull 10.00-12.00
El Departament de Filologia Espanyola, Moderna i Clàssica amb el suport de la Facultat de Filosofia i Lletres organitza el seminari sobre Robert Graves com un àrea oberta de recerca. Seguidament, us oferim una breu descripció al respecte:
Robert Graves (1895-1985) played a central role in the cultural life of the Balearics as a resident in Deià for over four decades, but also stood as a prominent figure in Anglophone letters for most of the twentieth century. The poet, novelist and critic initiated his literary career as a war poet and soon became the centre of literary and artistic circles, first through his collaboration with American poet Laura Riding, who came to Mallorca with him on his first stay in the 1920s, and later after settling again in Deià in 1946, where he was visited by an important number of collaborators, admirers and friends. Research on his work has been carried out for decades and is now more vigorous than ever, as is shown by the biennial conferences organised by the Robert Graves Society which congregate scholars from all over the world. This paper attempts to put an emphasis on the wide diversity of topics tackled by Graves and approached by researchers in recent years, as well as the enormous amount of bio-bibliographical materials that have been preserved by his family. Many of these documents are still unexplored and include part of his correspondence with eminent men of letters, notes and diaries and unpublished poetry, some of which still requiring transcription.
